February Minutes were approved Karen moved, Mona seconded. Passed

Treasurer’s report Insurance $375 Ziply Fiber $60.39 $370 membership income $100 donated for St. Patrick’s celebration 3470.35 unreconciled balance 1820.59 in the trails fund The Ziply phone is for Mrs. C to answere, she defers to the city on most calls. Mona moved to remove the landline. Karen seconded passed . Althea thinks we should thank Mrs. C Colin said we could have a number for several dollars per month to forward calls to a volunteer. Action on that was tabled to the next meeting.

Insurance: The Spirit Lake Events committee needs insurance—if city can’t supply, can Chamber ?Mona will check our policy.

Member news: Carol Ferguson—problems in the library system about books attack… A local library Board had to call police to restore order. So the library is dealing with these issues.

Lisa Arnold Superindendent Lakeland Schools. Schools are also having library issues, are adding parents to advisory commmittee on books . Levy next Tuesday March 14 –please vote. School district attendance boundaries need to be adjusted –Garwood Elementary is overcrowded. They are expecting to have to build a new school fairly soon. Britteny Koontz PB for Elementary

Christy McEvoy First Interstate has some good new CD rates available.

Caitlyn from SL Police Department is going part time. Two positions are open currently… Britteny is being trained in as her replacement. Debbie Carpenter fire department: New fire engine coming this month, will take about two months to outfit it. They may have a public celebration when ready. The department has been visiting area libraries. They also have 1 new hire.

Sondahl pottery: Brad did some music at this year’s Spokane Outdoor show, said there were small communities like ours represented there…

SL Historical Society Althea Sondahl reported dues are free this year, new members can have a free calendar. She’s also on the Historical commission. Work is continuing on rehabbing the Woolen Brown building.. April 22 there will be an open house at the museum for members—the museum will open to the public around Memorial Day.

Karen Carpenter Carpenter and Farmer’s Insurance—She said she is super busy, trying to do good for everyone.

Colin Conway—Sedlmeyers is triying a new arrangement by their woodfire stove with benches and table nearby.

Mandy Conway—Pairing meal Wednesday March 8 is almost full—bacon pairing meal $95/person March 15 Murder Mystery night, 6-9 38 signed up, almost full. Pirate theme. Kayla will be leading a paint and sip art experience 6-8 Wed. March 22 $30 They have started a history wall at the restaurant– Mandy grew around there also, her grandparents owned property in the area, her brother is now becoming a neighbor. A nephew reached out with some historical details.

Dan Koehler Presbyterian Church– replacement stairs needed, no contractors willing to take it on as too small a job. Roof repair or replacement is also needed. They have a new sign ready for erecting in spring. The bell tower has some structural issues that need addressed. Attendance has been steady 25-35, looking for ways to engage more in the community.

Mona Stafford The Community Center served 15000 meals last year, still going strong. They serve a large area for meals on wheels, including Bayview, down to Silverwood. The wooden disks with prizes for the eye on the community program have not been hidden yet. Priest River Women’s Ministry is still looking for a new location , served 3000 free lunches last summer. 1900 people were served with free clothing.

St. Patricks Event Participants get a card stamped at the Whitehorse, Linger Longer, or Brats Brews opportunity for $500 prize –March 17th

Chamber Website: The school tech person (Dane) wants payment to run website estimating 2 hrs per month at $50/hr. Decision tabled to next meeting

NITA Mona suggested Stoneridge is a possible place to distribute our travel guides to their other Condo association members. Carol moved, Karen seconded to put in 2024 budget for outdoor show and distributing flyer out of our area. Passed Passed

Reminder: the Boat regatta is planned for Aug. 5
