Oppotrtunities to explore Spirit Lake abound through out the year, beckoning adventurers and natural enthusiast alike. One of the town’s prime attractions is the Empire Trails, a sprawling network of biking and hiking trails that wind it’s way deep into the surrounding forrest above beautiful Spirit Lake. Whether you’re a seasoned mountain biker or casual hiker, these ten miles of trails offer an immersive journey through the pristine wilderness.

IEP Permits are no longer required for public access by Bikers and Hikers

Since the beginning the Spirit Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and the SpiritLake Trails Alliance has been primary builders, supporter and financial backers of the Empire Trails System.

How to get to the Empire Trails

Visitors can access the trail at the M41 access road just off of Spirit Lake Rd. 3.5 miles from the downtown parking lot.  At the M41 Trail Head entrance you will find the parking lot, a large trail map sign, restroom facilities and gate attendant. Motorized vehicles will require a daily or season pass which for are available online at axxcessrec.com
