Minutes from March meeting were approved Mona moved, Colin seconded passed.

Member news:

Carol Ferguson said the library bill passed the legislature may take effect July 1. This would seriously affect our local library. The district will have noted if underage on library cards, but this is not easy to implement. Lynn said the school district will limit categories for checkout per parents’ wishes.

(Update—the governor vetoed the bill and it was not overrided.)

Mandy Conway: Sedlmayers Special events will continue through May, plan to be open full time regular hours by end of May

Carribean- Jamaican pairing meal next Wed. April 12 .

Sunday will also feature an Easter special, Paint and Sips evening will become a regular feature.

New signature dessert is in planning to add to the menu.

Colin Conway Has been working on a new custom wood bench near the fireplace area. High school media class crew are coming to make 30 second video of the resort later this spring. (is a fundraiser toward their going to a national competition).

Jame’ Davis for Intermax internet, said she is a former chamber director. Plan on 4 phases, pricing expected to be for 300/30 megs/s $80 which includes the wifi router. Will only be expanding in city limits currently (pdf attached of their plan)

Lana Young, Nurse practitioner has a long experience in mobile nurse visiting. She has her local care behind the bank and Cup of Grace. She will be expanding her hours here as she can afford. She is getting her website set up. She may teach CPR. Currently it is Family practice with sport physicals, DOT exam, and urgent care first aid. She has urgent care experience. She had 1400 patients in Sandpoint, some are still coming here. She also did mobile outreach for Heritage Health serving Spirit Lake. She is not taking insurance, but can provide high quality of care without billing hassles. Her hours are Wed and Thursday 8-4 Fridays 8-noon…

Lynn Paslay from Lakeland School District They were planning to go with the loss, but they are rerunning the levy because they have been flooded with support after the election. The Lakeland levies will be on the ballot May 16. One, a supplemental levy for $9.5 million per year for two years, will be run again as it was on the March 14 ballot. A school plant facilities reserve levy also presented to voters March 14, for $1.146 million per year for six years, will be shortened to two years. The election will be May 16.

Shynne Price Spirit Lake Elementary, Kids are happy to have snow free playground, ISAT state testing and character focused assembly are coming up.

Debbie Carpenter SLFD chief, is still awaiting the new fire engine, will have a public event when it’s installed. CPR classes—had 6 attend recently, would like to offer CPR to public $5 for non certified $25 for certification with a 4 hour course. Will be giving out and/or installing smoke alarms starting with an older section of town. Need 30 volunteers –10 teams of 3 to install them free. Totally free. May13. Taking a low profile in starting this. Contact the Fire Department if you would be willing to volunteer.

Sondahl Pottery Will have a rare vacation for a week or so after Easter…

Mona Stafford Community center. They found out they rival larger cities In Idaho in number and volume of meals served. There was a small crafts show last weekend. Priest River Ministry announces they will be going away from Spirit Lake. Women’s advocacy is going away with it.

Lunch shack will likely move to on the property adjacent to the Comm. Center. They will be offering free meals for children in the summer M-F 12-2 .

Old business:

Brad moved to discontinue our old phone which went to Mrs. C and use the cheaper one accessed by Colin- 208 428 1908. Mona seconded, it passed. Should now cost less per month than the Ziply bill.

Colin Conway has made a major Website update: spiritlakechamber.com is the new website, with many new features: Rotating random logo banners for premium members—clickable to more info.

Events are listed on the homepage. Easy to join Chamber from it. Members page is sorted into categories, premium members stand out. Also includes directions to businesses. Also have some previous minutes of meetings included and a short history and links to local services. Visit it now (link is above)!

Carol: Visitor’s guide still in layout process. Marc is updating Empire Trails info. Next meeting should have a sample .

NITA tourism update: Our budget for 2024 includes our getting: Outdoor show $1500 and brochure distribution $1500, as well as participation in the joint projects: Idaho Travel Guide - Northwest Travel & Life ,Brand USA Spring Canada multichannel Promotion, and Influencers - /Photographers
